History of T. & T. V. Sarvajanik Vidyalaya School, Primary Unit, Gopipura, Surat.

We feel honour to express the history of our well known school, named as T. & T. V. Sarvajanik Vidhyalaya. The expand version of T. & T. V. is Tapidas and Tulsidas Varajdas Sarvajanik Vidhyalaya. This well known school is situated at Gopipura area of Surat District. This school long back known at “The English School”. Some people used to call it ‘Dhingli’ too. This school was established more then a century ago, So we feel proud and happiness to remember it’s 118 glorious years of existence. If we go back in the history and recalled the memories of the past of Surat city automatically we comes across the rule of British era.

In the period Duccon society, Pune of old Mumbai realized the importance of education and started a school over here. Due to back of interest of people in education, unawareness and social stigma, only one school was enough in the area. This little known English school became famous as ‘DHINGALI’ school in later years. Hundred and eighteen years ago in the year of 1888 this school had classes up to 8th standard only. In same era Nanavat locality was occupied by some rich people.In that lot one was Mr. Varajdas. He had two sons Tapidas and Tulsidas. These two person donated huge amount of money, in the development of the school and due to that reason middle school came in existence. As this school was situated in the middle of the Surat city of that period, so it got it’s name as Middle school. In the year 1972 this school become full flagged school and started providing quality education from primary section to secondary level classes.

A new building was constructed just attached to the old one. In the year 1980 a new education system was introduced and 10+2+3 pattern system. So this school expanded its wings and started providing education from stand red first to 12th class.

In the year 1995 a very well known institution of Surat city ‘JALARAM SEVA MANDAL’ located at Balaji Road provided facility of pure drinking water for the students. This is now known as ‘JALARAM DHARA’. In the year 1997-98 a big hall and as well as a computer room and a sports room were build on the fist floor.

As physical amenities kept growing and in the month of June 2006, that time principal Mrs. Manisha ben Desai brought a new thought of starting pre-primary section in the school. This new thought latterly converted in to a noble idea of bringing ex-students of the school under one umbrella, This noble idea was guided by chairman Shree Dinkarrai Nayak and he presented the unique solution of ‘POONH MILAN SAMAROH’.

Once this unique of brining the ex-students under one common roof has stricken, ex-students started extending their support for this sacred cause. The ex-student Mr. Rajan Mehra and his NRI brother Mr. Anil Mehra donated huge amount of 25000/- Dollar in the memory of their mother. So under the leadership of Mr.Dinkarrai Nayak, ex chairman of studentwing Mr.Sunilbhai Modi and Dr.Nishitbhai Shroff and secretary Mr.Nihar Doctor played a crucial role in building of pre-primary section on the name of mother of mehra brother ‘PRAVINLATA OMPRAKASH MEHRA’ and ‘VATSALYAVATIKA’.

As today 85 students are studying in these two classes of this new building. We think that this school and all person attached to this school drives their inspirations and energy form the high status of ‘MAA HINGDAJ’ sited in the ground.
